US Airways has changed its award chart to mimic the new three tier pricing of American Airways and there has also been a small change to its Oneworld Alliance award chart.

US Airways Dividend Miles Award Changes

The Oneworld Alliance award chart changes are in effect immediately and the new US Airways metal award chart is valid for travel on or after June 1, 2014.

You can access US Airways web page for award chart here.

The only change on the Oneworld Alliance chart is the North Asia zone that will require 20,000 miles more per business return trip from the following zones: US/Canada, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico/Central America.

The North Asia return business class award used to require 90,000 miles from these destinations and will now cost 110,000 miles. Surprisingly the first class award still requires only 120,000 miles.

Why would you redeem for business when the first class award is only 10,000 miles more?

Conclusion

I find it amusing that US Airways finds that it must tinker with the Oneworld Alliance award chart only a week later it joined the alliance. Giving no prior notice of the Oneworld Alliance award chart changes is inexcusable.

The changes that US Airways made to its own awards only affect those that are not able to book/find “low” awards.
