US Airways exited the Star Alliance yesterday and entered the Oneworld today. We already knew that the airline would continue frequent flier partnership with number of Star Alliance and other partner airlines past March 30, 2014.
Now, the airline has clarified the situation with these partnership on the footnotes of its partner award chart.
You can access US Airways web page for partner airlines here.
The airline continues (for now) the partnership with the following airlines:
- Aegean
- Air China
- Air New Zealand ENDS June 29, 2014
- Avianca ENDS May 31, 2014
- EVA Air ENDS May 14, 2014
- Hawaiian Airlines
- Jet Airways
- Shenzhen Airlines
- Singapore Airlines ENDS July 31, 2014
- South African Airways
- TAP
- Turkish Airlines
Here’s the partner airline chart:
The wording on the partner award chart indicates that you cannot mix and match partner and Oneworld alliance airlines. You can, however, mix and match partner airlines.
Conclusion
At least we now know when the partnership with Air New Zealand, Avianca, EVA Air and Singapore Airlines is going to come to an end.
Hawaiian and JET Airways are both also American Airlines AAdvantage partners, so the partnership with these two airlines is going to last until the end of Dividend Miles. I would expect all the other partners to drop between now and the end of 2014.
