To better align the expiry of the Dividend Miles status with the exit from the Star Alliance, US Airways has decided to grant one month extension until March 30, 2014.

US Airways will join the Oneworld Alliance on March 31, 2014, and will mail new membership cards with the new Oneworld Alliance status imprinted on them.

Since the announcement of our merger, we’ve been hard at work building the new American. There is much work to be done, but for now, we continue to function as two separate airlines and maintain our separate loyalty programs – Dividend Miles and Aadvantage®.
In order to align with our exit from Star Alliance, we’re extending your current Dividend Miles Chairman’s Preferred status through March 30, 2014. Rest assured your mileage balance and elite status are safe and secure, and you’ll enjoy all your benefits including complimentary upgrades on US Airways flights, priority check in and priority boarding for an additional month.
If you qualify for Preferred status in 2014 by the end of this year, you’ll receive a welcome email in February, and your Dividend Miles Preferred Status kit will arrive in the mail in early April. We’ll be sure to keep you informed of any changes and enhancements as we move forward to build the new American. Conclusion
Switching the US Airways from the Star Alliance to Oneworld Alliance and starting the merging of the airline to American Airways is quite a task.
Glad that they decided to extend the status for an additional one month, so that those that didn’t qualify for the 2014 membership year can still take advantage of the status related benefits.
